RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION OF HISTORICAL GARDENS AND PROTECTED SPACES

The scope of the spaces protected by Law, following the guidelines of the Florence Charter of 1981 (among which are the Historical Gardens), needs professionals who know, understand and deduce the specific characteristics of these places that are abided by a different methodology from the rest of urban and spatial environments. These enclaves are not only recreational spaces, but also open-air museums that, due to their typology, need special protection, both in their conservation and in the different actions carried out. The Landscape architect creates a link between all the information units, connecting and interpreting, respecting and valuing, evaluating and investigating all the elements that compose it. In the same way, consider the anthropic pressure that occurs due to use, taking benefits of rules that minimize the risks. To this end, the Landscape Architect develops and implements action protocols, based on the existing planimetric, artistic and historical documentation, analyses and interprets the existing vestiges and creates a chronological sequence that allows decision-making according to the time in which the restoration is done. Because of the specific nature of these spaces, infrastructures are often not adequate, and should be provided, as a priority with means that allow integral management.

Landscape architect will carry out a Master Plan, keeping in mind all these considerations, creating an interdisciplinary and professional group that will deal with a broad investigation of all the elements involved, inventing each of them, maintaining unity and looking after the Law on Protection of that is ascribed.
